Occasionally Speaking

ABOUT BRIDGET VERDUN

“Occasionally Speaking is the natural, artful evolution of founder Bridget Verdun’s vision to create and curate objects for living well. In August 2004, Bridget and her husband Tad purchased The Historic Decker Electric Building on Elm Street in Three Oaks, Michigan, a cultural hub nestled amongst the lakeside towns that make up Harbor Country. Known for its theaters, galleries, specialty shops, gourmet dining, a distillery and its own radio station, Harbor Country has been affectionately called the “Hamptons of the Midwest” The Verduns’ extensive renovation of the property resulted in Studio b., a fine art gallery and artisan shop created by Bridget and directed by her mother, Pam Durkin.

In 2019, Studio b. was reimagined as a working artist studio and co-working space. In addition to creating a workplace for artists in Three Oaks, Bridget is the founder and creative director of Occasionally Speaking, a line of fine greeting cards now produced in her Three Oaks studio. Inspired by famous quotations, she launched the line of cards in 2009, letterpress printed on a vintage Kluge press with soy ink on 100% cotton stationery imported from Italy. Each card is beautifully designed, simple and elegant and is hand assembled with care. Bridget’s formal training in graphic design coupled with her experience owning an art gallery, along with over two decades of professional experience in the corporate world, inform this work as she successfully produces and markets artful cards that inspire the art of living well.

Occasionally Speaking greetings are available locally in Three Oaks at Goods+Heroes and in over 150 retailers nationally, including Paper Source stores, Whole Foods Market and Vosges Haut-Chocolat boutiques. View our locations
